Lower Total Cost of Ownership
Safeguarding food quality and safety while managing overall costs can be challenging in today’s competitive and dynamic environment. In addition to shifting consumer habits, regulatory pressures and global economic headwinds are forcing retailers to adapt quickly and embrace change at a blistering pace. Copeland CO₂ scroll technology gives you the flexibility needed to stay competitive and ensure cost-effective operations. We enable retailers to increase profitability and efficiency to reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) of a CO₂ refrigeration system, with potential savings across the board. Here is how.
10 Reasons
Why The New Cool Helps Retailers to Lower Total Cost of Ownership
Regardless of store size or climate conditions, we can help you gain long-term peace of mind with our game-changing CO₂ scroll technology.
Let’s Talk About Your Investment
Our solution is delivering the efficiency of parallel compression without its added complexity and costs. The innovative Copeland CO₂ scroll technology also reduces CO₂ premium costs, which is particularly important for smaller store formats. Until recently, the high-cost delta versus HFC refrigeration systems prevented the large-scale roll-out of CO₂ to small and medium-sized supermarkets. Copeland CO₂ scroll technology has changed this.
The Copeland CO₂ solution features the new generation of CO₂ scroll compressors, which are smaller, lighter, and more cost-efficient than compressors traditionally used for booster systems and refrigeration units. In addition, the newly integrated Dynamic Vapor Injection (DVI) technology replaces the need for parallel compression, keeping the system’s efficiency level high. Fewer components such as inverter drive, heat exchanger as well as piping are required to set up the booster system, decreasing the system’s complexity significantly. The solution comes with an advanced control concept and preconfigured components which simplifies the installation. All these aspects result in lower investment costs and in a smaller frame size of the booster system. This also frees up store space for other purposes and makes The New Cool suitable even for small shop formats in urban areas.
How About Operational Costs?
Equipped with the latest high efficiency Brushless Permanent Magnet (BPM) on all variable speed motors, the system performance is further enhanced as the motor efficiency remains high at all speeds. All this results in low operating costs in general and optimized energy costs in particular. |

Energy savings can be significant, particularly when projected over the lifecycle of a refrigeration system and a retailer’s entire store network. |
The new CO₂ technology is designed for high stand still pressure ensuring sufficient time for action in case of a system downtime. The CO₂ scroll solution enables a climate-independent system design with less system components which reduces life-cycle costs while giving peace of mind: the operating technicians “know what to expect” no matter the site they visit. This “one design for all climates” approach increases familiarity with the applied refrigeration system, thus avoiding errors. Training can focus on a system without variants – this applies to handling both mechanical and electronic devices. |
Higher Value, Lower Costs Copeland CO₂ scroll technology is good news for those who value maximum efficiency, reliability, and low cost of ownership. |
Don’t Worry About Service Costs
The new Copeland CO₂ scroll solutions, made of high-quality components and combined with advanced electronics, allow for a very reliable application. Equipped with the latest generation of CO₂ scroll compressors featuring very low vibration levels, the system reliability is improved while the risk of piping rupture is minimized. Advanced control functions, preventive maintenance, and the option for remote monitoring of system parameters enable reliable and efficient operation and at the same time quick and easy access for required intervention. Apart from optimizing maintenance efforts this also results in minimizing food spoilage. |
Energy Efficiency and Savings Opportunities
Copeland CO₂ scroll technology is also good news when it comes to energy savings. Our approach: "One system design fits all climates" enables the best possible efficiency anywhere. That is good for the climate and good for your business, because reduced energy consumption results in reduced operating costs. As the energy used for refrigeration accounts for a very large share of a supermarket’s energy demand, this can lead to substantial savings. Our CO₂ scroll solutions are also compatible with heat recovery, thus opening up the possibility to cover the energy required for heating with the refrigeration system.
